1 VP-Binay visited Bohol on Wed Jul 13, 2011 4:31 pm

Vice President Jejomar Binay arrived onboard the last PAL fight yesterday afternoon in time for his guesting at the 50th Charter Day of Danao and the groundbreaking of the Bohol Yatch Club in Bien Unido town.

Danao Mayor Tom Gonzaga and Bien Unido Mayor Nino Rey Boniel will separately welcome Binay this morning for the twin event which will propel tourism development in the northern part of Bohol.

In marking its 50th year, Danao takes a lift to complete a land, water and air attraction as it will launch today the Danao Air Park and Paramotor School. The town will capture the limelight as it will have the longest zipline in Asia at 1.5 kilometer stretch which is dubbed as "XSanity." In tandem with this is the launching of the Danao-Eksalife-Village Tour.

Mayor Gonzaga, when interviewed by the Chronicle yesterday said that with this additional activities Danao will now become the "highest thrill-per-square meter rating in the country."

The Danao Charter Day activities started last Tuesday with various events. Last night, Joey Ayala and Lolita Carbon of Asin staged their concert at the Danao Adventure Park while awards and recognition night was held at the Danao Cultural Center which was capped with a ballroom session up to dawn today.

Vice Pres. Binay is expected to be in Danao by 11 o'clock this morning.

From the city, the vice president will travel by land to Bien Unido at 6 a.m. today for the groundbreaking of the Bohol Yatch Club, a P60-million investment to be known as the ‘playground of the rich and the investors’.

Mayor Boniel told the Chronicle that the project will be situated on a sprawling 3,000 sq. m. lot with 30 bedroom accommodation, function rooms, bars, and an infinity pool. Meanwhile, the marina will have room for 20 medium-sized yachts.

Known as Bohol’s Last Frontier, Bien Unido is home to the Danajon double barrier reef, the only one in Asia. Other natural wonders include an underwater bridge formed from years of coral growth, and sightings of sharks, manta rays and whale sharks.

But perhaps Bien Unido’s main attraction is the underwater grotto, featuring 14-foot statues of the Virgin Mary and the Sto. Niño. This is the only underwater grotto in the Philippines, and one out of five in the world. The gigantic project which is in joint efforts with JC Armamento Development (JCAD) is slated to open by the second quarter of next year.

Binay met last night with few mayors together with Rep. Arthur Yap at Peacock Garden Resort & Spa in Baclayon town.

Among those present were Mayor Dan Lim, Dauis Mayor Jimmy Jimenez, Cortes Mayor Jasmin Balistoy, Maribojoc Mayor Leoncio Evasco, G-Hernandez Mayor Miguelito Galendez, Catigbian Mayor Roberto Salinas, Corella Mayor Nicanor Tocmo, Danao Mayor Tom Gonzaga, Mabini Mayor Esther Tabigue, Jagna Mayor Fortunato Abrenilla, Anda Mayor Angelina Simacio, Inabanga Mayor Jono Jumamoy, and Bien Unido Mayor Boniel.

President-elect Benigno “Noynoy” Aquino III recently revealed the members of his Cabinet in a press conference. He revealed that he did not offer Vice President-elect Jejomar Binay the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) post.

What role do you think would be best for Binay in the Aquino administration? Why suggest that for him? Share your thoughts to the community now!

Is it really necessary for Binay to have other roles than being the VP? I think the president have lots of things to do and in my own understanding, a VICE is an assistant..PNOY has to delegate other tasks to VP Binay aron mogaan-gaan ang iyang trabaho then daghan og agi kay dili man pud niya makaya nga siya ra. Anha raba diay mo-function ang VICE kung mahanaw ang President? Kung naa silang duha, magtinabangay sila.
